Revelation 19:17-21

Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly directly overhead, “Come, gather for the great supper of God, to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great.”  And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army.  And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.  And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

The outcome of the epic battle between good and evil, Satan and God has been determined before the foundations of the earth.  The evil that thrives in our present circumstances may cause us to question God’s control; but it shouldn’t.  We can rest assured that this conflict of the ages will end with vultures feasting on the flesh of all who dare to wage war on Christ.  Satan and all his allies will be cast into the lake of fire.  Jesus will reign forever and ever.

A FEAST OF FLESH: In preparation for the return of Christ, an angel calls to the vultures to gather to eat the flesh of all the people who will be killed.  The armies of the world who have gathered to fight one another and attack Israel will unite in an attempt to prevent the return and reign of Christ.  This will be their final act of rebellion as they will be destroyed at the return of Christ.  God has patiently and repeatedly given humanity time to repent and submit to His will.  He has demonstrated His willingness and ability to judge and yet this mass of humanity continues to rebel and believe they can somehow be victorious over the Sovereign of the universe.  This will end very badly for them, and the consequences will be eternal.

THE BEAST IS BEAT: The beast and the false prophet will be bound and thrown in the lake of fire never to be free again to deceive and destroy the inhabitants of the earth.  Christ will vanquish all His foes, and the rebellion of the nations will be put down.  The idolatry of the beast and his reign of terror on the earth will come to an end and the death of all his followers will ensue.  This final battle will be completely one sided.  The hosts of heaven will not suffer one casualty of even spill one drop of blood.  The rebellious armies of the earth will not have one survivor.  They will be put to death and only those who follow Christ will survive.

APPLICATION: Warn those who insist on doubting Christ, living for themselves and following the deception of Satan that this day of wrath and judgment is coming.  Trust that no matter how difficult our lives of following Christ on this earth may be or become; righteousness will reign in the end.
