Luke 17:11-19

Luke 17:11-19 11  While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.  12  As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him;  13  and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”  14  When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed.  15  Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice,  16  and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan.  17  Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they?  18  “Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?”  19  And He said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has made you well.” Gratitude is a virtue we strive to teach our children from the time they are young.   A lack of gratitude is something we all detest when we detect it in the lives of

John 11:45-53

John 11:45-53 45  Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him.  46  But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done. 47  Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs.  48  “If we let Him  go on  like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”  49  But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all,  50  nor do you take into account that it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”  51  Now he did not say this on his own initiative, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,  52  and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroa

John 11:1-44

http://biblehub.com/parallelgospels/The_Raising_of_Lazarus_from_the_Dead.htm The raising of Lazarus from the dead illustrates some precious truths about Jesus that should greatly impact all our lives.   However, it also demonstrates that He acts in ways that we don’t expect for reasons that we may not understand.   As we compare what we know to be true about God with what we also believe to be true about the condition of the world in which we live, things do not always seem to make sense to us.   When this happens, it is very important for us to prioritize what we know about God over what we think we know about the world.   What we know about God; we know from His infallible Word.   What we know about the world; we know from our own flawed observations.   JESUS IS ALL KNOWING: When Jesus receives the word the Lazarus was sick, He waits.   The text makes it clear that He loved the family very much and He immediately says that the illness was not for the purpose of death but fo

Luke 17:1-10

Luke 17:1-10 1  He said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come!  2  “It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble.  3  “Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.  4  “And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.” 5  The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”  6  And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you. 7  “Which of you, having a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come immediately and sit down to eat’?  8  “But will he not say to him, ‘Prepare something for me to eat, and  properly  clothe yourself and serve me while I eat an
