Matthew 21:23-27 Mark 11:27-33 Luke 20:1-8

Matthew 21:23-27 23  When He entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said, “By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?”  24  Jesus said to them, “I will also ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.  25  “The baptism of John was from what  source,  from heaven or from men?” And they  began  reasoning among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’  26  “But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the people; for they all regard John as a prophet.”  27  And answering Jesus, they said, “We do not know.” He also said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things. Mark 11:27-33 27  They came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to H

Matthew 21:19-22 Mark 11:19-26 Luke 21:37-38

Matthew 21:19-22 19  Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He said to it, “No longer shall there ever be  any fruit from you.” And at once the fig tree withered. 20  Seeing  this,  the disciples were amazed and asked, “How did the fig tree wither  all  at once?”  21  And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.  22  “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Mark 11:19-26 19  When evening came, they would go out of the city. 20  As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots  up. 21  Being reminded, Peter said to Him, “Rabbi, look, the fig tree which You cursed has withered.”  22  And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith

John 12:44-50

John 12:44-50 44  And Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me.  45  “He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.  46  “I have come  as  Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.  47  “If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.  48  “He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.  49  “For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment  as to  what to say and what to speak.  50  “I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.” Jesus and the Father are one.   Jesus wants to make sure the disciples and the people who are hearing Him know that He is not just making things up and speaking on His ow

John 12:36-43

John 12:36-43 These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them.  37  But though He had performed so many signs before them,  yet  they were not believing in Him.  38   This was  to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: “LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?”  39  For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again,  40  “HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HEHARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM.”  41  These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory, and he spoke of Him.  42  Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing  Him,  for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue;  43  for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God. Why did people not believe in Jesus?   This is the question that this text seeks to ans
