2 Chronicles 9:1-31

Solomon was a very prosperous king who experienced what had to have been the climax of the history of the children of Israel.  He benefited greatly from the military conquests of David, his father.  He also was blessed with a special knowledge and insight into the creation and the ways of men on the earth.  He experienced peace and prosperity to an extent that no king before him and no king after him was able to achieve.  There is no doubt about the blessing of God upon his life.  Solomon is an amazing illustration of the power of God and His ability to bless men in astounding ways.  God was the source of all of these blessings for Solomon and He continues to have all of these blessings at His disposal today.  He is the God of the extraordinary and we can trust Him to supply all that is needed for any mission that is for His glory and according to His will.  He can equip us for any task and provide the resources for any project.

SOLOMON WAS BLESSED WITH GREAT WISDOM: The fame of Solomon and his kingdom was spreading to the other nations of the world.  When the queen of Sheba arrived in Israel she was curious to find out just how wise he was and how great was her kingdom.  What she saw and heard exceeded by far her expectation and the reports that she had heard.  Her conclusion was to simply state that the Lord loved Israel very much and demonstrated that love by providing such a wise and wonderful king.  God knows everything and He makes His knowledge available to us as He sees fit.  Solomon’s greatest desire was to be given knowledge and wisdom to lead and serve the children of Israel.  One of our most earnest prayers should be that God would grant us wisdom in our families, churches and leaders.  Solomon’s wisdom exceeded the queen’s imagination and the same God of Solomon had promised to grant His wisdom to those who ask Him for His honor and glory.

SOLOMON WAS BLESSED WITH GREAT WEALTH: The queen of Sheba left great gifts of gold and rare spices to Solomon.  In fact, all of the surrounding nations brought gifts and paid tribute to Solomon to the point that gold and silver were so abundant in Israel that they were not even counted.  Each year Solomon received 666 talents of gold from only one source, each talent would be worth well over a million dollars in today’s currency, so that gives us an idea of the extent of His wealth.  Just like God has all the knowledge of the world, God owns all of the resources of the world.  We must never think that there is a need that is beyond His ability to supply.  God has called us to spread the fame of Christ to the nations of the world.  This is not an easy or inexpensive task.  We can trust Him to provide all that is needed to accomplish this task.  Unfortunately, many believers today are misusing the wealth that God has given by building “empires” for their own glory and comfort instead of contributing to the growth of the kingdom of God for the glory of Jesus Christ.
