Psalm 33:1-22

The power and love of God are clearly demonstrated all around us.  We see it in the world that He has made and we see it in his care on a daily basis.  God has revealed Himself to us through the world he created as well as His Word.  Our hearts should respond to His revelation with praise, thanksgiving, obedience, fear, hope, joy and trust.  What we know and learn about God should cause a reaction in our hearts.  We must not ignore what God has revealed or allow our knowledge of Him to only inform our minds without transforming our hearts.  What we know and observe about God should fill our mouths with songs of praise, fill our hearts with joyful faith and fill every member of our bodies with grateful obedience.

WE WORSHIP THE LORD BECAUSE HE CREATED THE EARTH: All that we see around us was created by God.  The more our knowledge of the universe grows, the more astounding God’s creation becomes in our minds.  As we observe the minute details of creation through the lens of a microscope we are amazed by the order and intricacy that is revealed about God through His creation.  Aw we observe the immensity of creation through the lens of a telescope we are overwhelmed by the power of God as revealed through the universe that He made.  When we try to build something it always involves large amounts of time, blood, sweat and tears.  When God created the world He simply spoke it into existence in a matter of a few days.  There is nothing that we can do in light of this information except simply stand back and be in awe of what He has done and then fall on our faces before Him and worship.  We should use every bit of the skill that God has given us to praise His name.

WE TRUST IN THE LORD BECAUSE HE CONTROLS THE EARTH: God did not simply create the world and then leave it to function on its own.  God continues to be fully engaged in the events of the world as well as in the lives of the inhabitants of the world.  Unfortunately many of the men that were created by God live in rebellion against God.  They try to exalt themselves and think that they can live independently of the righteous requirements that God has placed upon them.  God stands against these men and will frustrate their plans.  He sits enthroned above the earth and observes our actions as well as our hearts.  He has the ability to change our lives and He is in full control of every event and every person on the face of the earth.  Our hope cannot be on the things that we have built of the size of our army.  Our only hope is in the Lord.  He loves us and we must trust Him, rejoice in Him and place our hope upon Him.  No matter what circumstance we face or who might be confronting us with threats; we can trust in God for He continues to control all that happens on the earth.
