Isaiah 24:1-23

If there is one truth that we must always remember from this section of Scripture, it is that God knows how to judge the nations and the people of the earth.  God has demonstrated throughout history that He is willing and able to judge men and nations.  It does not matter how big the nation is, how numerous the population might be or how important its inhabitants are; God will judge.  He has judged nations, individuals and even the entire planet in the past and He will continue to do so.  The day is coming when every man woman and child on the face of this planet will experience the judgment of God.  We must make sure that we are prepared for that day.

GOD’S JUDGMENT WILL BE COMPLETE: God will judge this earth in the most complete fashion that has ever been experienced.  He will call all men to account independent of their position or prosperity.  The slave and his owner will stand as equals before the Lord.  No class of people and no nation will be exempt from the judgment that is coming upon the earth.  The justice that takes place in today’s courts is always partial because it is being executed by fallible humans.  The full truth is never really known in our courts.  Too many times the guilty are set free because of a legal technicality or a lack of evidence against them or simply because they have enough money and influence to make justice turn a blind eye to their misdeeds.  This type of injustice will not occur in God’s judgment.  He has all of the evidence, He knows all of the truth and He does not care about our positions or bribes.  God’s judgment will be perfect and complete.

GOD’S JUDGMENT WILL BE CLEANSING: The purpose of judgment goes beyond simply punishing those who are guilty.  God is in the process of eradicating the blight of sin from this planet.  He is reversing the effects of the curse and He is accomplishing His plan of redemption.  All of His judgments have had the purpose of convincing me to turn from their sin and embrace His means of cleansing.  He has revealed His will in the Law and has place eternity before us as a clear motivation to be submissive to His will and Word.  God has always provided a means of escape from His judgment through His work on our behalf.  God is willing and able to judge all but He does not wish to judge any.  His desire is that all would come to repentance and be cleansed through His redemptive plan.  Those who follow Him and submit to Him will be cleansed of their sin and will face no condemnation.  However, those who reject His redemption and continue in their rebellion will be forever removed from His sight and the earth will be cleansed of their evil influence.  God will right supreme on the earth and all will worship Him eternally with completely cleansed hearts.
