Jude 1:24-25

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

The Gospel is the most effective weapon to combat false teachers and false doctrine.  Jude closes his letter by pointing to the power the Gospel of Christ has to transform us and our standing before God.  He then demonstrates the result of this magnificent accomplishment is the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ.

THE GOSPEL SANCTIFIES BELIVERS: The Gospel is all about Jesus.  All that the Gospel accomplishes is through Him and is about Him.  As fallen people, we stumble and fail at an alarming rate.  But He is able to keep us from stumbling.  He will preserve us in our faith and will perfect us so that for all of eternity we will never sin again.  This is the power promised by the Gospel.  Through the Gospel all our sinfulness was laid upon Christ at His crucifixion.  Through faith in Christ all of His righteousness has been placed upon us.  It is for this reason that now, Christ is able to present us before the Father in His righteousness.  We stand faultless before the Father because of the work of Christ on our behalf.  This is the true source of great joy.  We stand forgiven before the Lord and we are promised an eternal life completely free from sin.  This is the accomplishment of Christ through the Gospel, and it is a reason for unbridled joy.

THE GOSPEL MAGNIFIES JESUS: The ultimate consequence of the Gospel is not so much about the blessings we receive; but the glory that Christ receives.  He is God and must be worshiped as God.  He is also our Savior.  He is the one who purchased our salvation and has rescued us from all aspects of sin.  His is also Lord.  He has the right to rule and reign over every aspect of our lives now and forever more.  For all these reasons and many more, we attribute to Him glory, majesty and dominion.  We praise and adore Him and we also submit to His authority.  He has always been, He is now, and He will always be worthy of our worship.

APPLICATION: Rejoice and be filled with hope in the amazing promises of the Gospel.  Exercise the strength God has granted to us that allows us to walk in obedience before Christ.  Give praise and worship to His holy name and humbly submit to His authority over us.
