1 Kings 5:1-18
Organization is an important part of any project and since
Solomon is such a wise leader he uses this quality as he prepares to build the
temple. He knows the job that needs to
get done and he begins by getting organized and then moving forward. God’s work should be done with excellence and
organization is a key step towards excellence as well as efficiency. We can see a quick backdrop on the process that
Solomon used to build the Temple.
SOLOMON SOUGHT PARTNERSHIPS: The first thing that we see
Solomon do is reach out to a key partner.
He is aware that he does not have the resources that he needs so he
seeks out a partner that will be able to provide what is needed. This is an important step in this process of preparation. We should never be under the impression that
we need to do things by ourselves. A
wise leader will always reach out to strategic partners.
SOLOMON BOUGHT PROVISIONS: Solomon also took care of his
partners. He was ordering lots of wood
and the deal was that in exchange for this Solomon would provide for the
household of Hiram, the king. Solomon
kept his word and made generous provision.
We must realize that we need to provide the necessary resources for any
project to go forward and these things are not free. Money does not grow on trees, but it takes
money to buy trees and Solomon was faithful to provide for his partners.
SOLOMON BROUGHT PEOPLE: There was a small army of men that
were organized to accomplish the various tasks of gathering and transporting
the materials for this project 180,000 men were being led by 3,300
administrators that all worked together to get a massive job accomplished. Those who had to travel were given extra time
off at home and it appears that Solomon took good care of his personnel. People don’t grow on trees either and we need
to be sure to care for the ones that the Lord provides for the work to which He
has called us.
