Psalm 53:1-6

Sin is the universal problem that every man woman and child faces on the face of the planet.  It is a part of who we are since the fall in the Garden of Eden.  Mankind has become corrupt and desires to be in control.  We do not like the idea of being responsible to God.  In reality, we want to be our own god.  In order to accomplish that status we must convince ourselves that there is no God.  In our hearts we know that God exists and we are responsible to worship Him, but our sinfulness has motivated us to deny what we know to be true in order to facilitate our being able to live the way that we want to live.  Fortunately there is a solution for sin through faith in Jesus Christ who has offered Himself in order to redeem us from sin.

THE CORRUPTION OF SIN IS UNIVERSAL: Sin has affected and infected every person on the face of the earth.  As God looks done from heaven He cannot find one person who is just.  Nobody is able to please God on the merit of their own works.  In fact, there is nobody who truly seeks after God.  Men are powerless to conquer sin apart from God but the reality is that we do not want to conquer sin.  The corruption of sin has spread to all men everywhere.  We like to pretend that we are good and we try to blame Satan and society for all the evil in the world.  However, the reality is that self is the true problem.

THE CONSEQUENCE OF SIN IS ETERNAL: Sin may be pleasurable for some fleeting moments, but the true consequences of sin are eternal apart from Christ.  The only solution for sin is to call on God to save us through the work of Jesus, but our sin prevents us from calling out to Him.  This reality causes man to live in constant fear.  Man longs for peace but there is not peace to be found apart from the Lord.  This constant state of terror will last for all of eternity unless we trust Gods provision for sin through the cross of Christ.
