Psalm 54:1-7

Salvation comes from the Lord.  When we are under attack from evil men or when we recognize our own sinful state; our hope rests fully on the Lord.  He is able to save us and deliver us from the most evil of men and the most dangerous of circumstance.  We must learn to trust Him, depend upon Him and cry out to Him for our salvation.  Our tendency is to want to be self-sufficient and believe that we are capable of saving ourselves.  This is foolishness.  God is our only hope, salvation comes from Him.

WE MUST PRAY TO THE LORD FOR HELP: The first thing that all of us must do, is come to the realization that we need help.  We are not strong enough or smart enough to solve our own problems.  Our enemies are greater than our strength and our sin is greater than our character.  We are in need of help from God.  Our first reaction should be to cry out to the Lord in prayer.  He is able and willing to save us.  It is pointless for us to struggle endlessly with our sin and those who sin against us.  God is available to us and will save us when we come to Him in prayer.

WE MUST PRAISE THE LORD FOR HOPE: The second thing that we must do is, remember to praise the Lord for the hope that He has given us when we needed it so desperately.  God delights in our thanksgiving.  We are always very quick to complain about the hardships that we face, but we are often very slow to thank God for the blessings that He provides.  God calls us to rejoice, be glad and give thanks to Him in every circumstance.  He restores our hope through His help.  The least that we can do is thank and praise Him for His marvelous grace.
