Psalm 65:1-13

God is worth of our praise and our worship because of the abundant blessings that He grants to His children.  We should gladly obey Him and fulfill all of our promises to Him because He is faithful to us through every step of the way.  We respond to His goodness, grace and generosity with gratitude.  We do not deserve His abundant provision; but He certainly deserves our adoration and praise.  David gives us three very good reasons to praise the Lord.

GOD SAVES US FROM OUR SIN: Certainly our greatest need and by far the most important reason for us to praise the Lord is that He saves us from our sin.  We can be forgiven of all our sin and iniquity by God’s glorious grace.  God hears our prayers and is able to answer them.  He atones for our sin so that we can be free of guilt.  God chooses us and draws us close to Himself.  We can find full and complete satisfaction in the presence of God.  The very least that we can do is allow our hearts to overflow with gratitude and our mouths overflow with praise for the glorious salvation that God grants.

GOD SURROUNDS US WITH HIS SOVEREIGNTY: It is impossible for us to escape from the presence of God because He constantly surrounds us.  His sovereign care for and presence with all of creation is clearly evident.  No matter where we are on this planet and how difficult our circumstances may be, we can always find hope in Him.  On the highest mountain and in the raging seas we are always surrounded by the sovereign car of God.  His power demonstrated in all of nature should cause us to stand in awe of Him.  From the time the sun begins to warm the morning to when it slips away into the horizon, there should be shouts of joy and songs of praise to the Lord.

GOD SUSTAINS US WITH SUPPLIES: God provides us with all that we need to survive on the earth in great abundance.  The rain that He sends makes grain grow our fields as it softens the soil and helps everything to grow.  His abundant provision causes our wagons to be weighed down with food.  Our lands are lush with green pasture so that even the animals have all that they need.  Our flocks have all of their needs supplied and our shelves are full of all the food that we need.  The fact that God sustains us and supplies ever one of our needs should motivate us to rejoice in Him and praise His holy name.
