Psalm 96:1-13

The nations need to know about the glory of our God.  So many nations follow and worship idols that are of their own making because they do not know our God and they do not understand that they were created by Him for the purpose of worshiping Him.  The only way that they will know is if we tell them.  This is the true heartbeat of every mission endeavor that we will ever make on the face of the earth.  The purpose of missions is to declare the glory of God to the nations of the world.  We do that by worshiping Him openly in the midst of these nations so that they can see our example.  We also do that by telling them about Him and declaring to them His glory.  As we go to the nations, there are basically two things that we need to make sure to declare to them about Him.

THEY NEED TO KNOW WHO HE IS: There is much about God that is revealed in nature, that the nations can observe.  However, they cannot truly know who He is unless they are told and someone explains to them who He is, what He is like and shows them how to worship Him.  As we go to the nations of the world, we are to go with a song in our hearts and on our lips so that they can hear who He is and see how He desires to be worshiped.  God is great and desires that all people praise Him.  The only way that all people will praise Him is if they know Him and the only way that they will know Him is if we tell them.  We must help them see the futility of worshiping idols and show them the joy of worshiping the Creator of the universe.  We must declare in song, word, deed and any other way at our disposal that God is glorious, that He is powerful and that He is to be feared above all others.  In order for them to praise Him they must know Him.

THEY NEED TO KNOW WHAT HE WILL DO: It is vital that the nations know who God is, but they must also know what He will do and His requirements of mankind.  They must understand that the great and glorious God we worship will one day stand in judgment over the nations of the world and they will be required to give an account before Him.  All of creation will rejoice and be refreshed as a result of this judgment because all of creation suffers under the effects of sin that seemingly goes unpunished.  All of that will end when God stands over the nations and judges them in faithfulness and according to His justice.  People naturally presume that all things will always be just as they currently are.  They are mistaken.  We must let all men know that God is planning to interrupt the course of history and will judge all people of all nations according to how they worshiped Him.  We must warn all men that they will one day stand before God as their judge.
