Psalm 119:57-64

Walking with God and keeping His Word is its own reward.  God is a rich reward for all who seek Him.  Fellowship with God is a blessing that far outweighs any other relationship we might have.  Like any relationship, our walk with God has profound implications on our lives and the way that we live our lives.  If we love God and are in a relationship with God; we will love His Word and seek to follow His Word with all of our heart.  This way of living has implications on how we live on a day to day basis and it will affect every aspect of our lives and all of our priorities.

THE COMMITMENT WE MAKE: Loving God will always result in a commitment on our part to obey the Word of God.  When we recognize who God is it is only natural that a relationship with Him will bring us to the point of submitting ourselves to His will.  We will also be committed to calling on the Lord for His grace in our lives.  We understand that we are in need and that He can meet those needs so we cry out to Him instead of looking to other false gods or ourselves for help.  We know that He is all-powerful and always faithful so we trust Him completely to keep His promises and care for us in times of distress.  When we walk with God we will constantly evaluate our own ways in light of His Word and make the necessary adjustments.  We will be committed to making our path line up with His Word and we will not delay in doing so.  A true walk with God will result in a commitment to complete and immediate obedience.

THE COMPANY WE KEEP: Our relationship with God will impact every other relationship that we have.  We will evaluate all other relationships in light of how it impacts our relationship with God.  Basically there are two types of relationships.  There are relationships that encourage and contribute to our walk with God; and there are relationships that distract from or discourage our walk with God.  Loving God implies that we will respond to these other relationships in accordance with that standard.  We will not allow the wicked to influence us and trap us into forgetting His Word.  Even in the darkest of situations we will prioritize praising the Lord.  We will develop relationships with those who fear the Lord and have made the same commitment to obey the Lord so that we can be and encouragement one to another.  The company we keep should be a help in our lives that reminds us of the greatness of God’s love and points us to the Word of God so that we do not forget to order our lives according to the glorious truth of His Word.
