Psalm 119:49-56

God’s Word is always going to have an impact on our lives.  There is no way that we can be in genuine contact with the Word of God and not be changed.  By genuine contact I mean truly reading and meditating on God’s Word and its content.  Many people display the Word of God as some kind of a good luck charm.  This is useless superstition that resembles paganism much more than Christianity.  Many others will go so far as to read that Word of God in a kind of mindless stupor as they worry about all the other things that they have to do that day.  This ritualistic reading is a form of religion that comes far from being a genuine relationship with God.  However, when we do take the time and put forth the effort to read, study, meditate and allow the Word of God to penetrate into our hearts it will always have an impact.

THE WORD OF GOD INSPIRES HOPE: Certainly, one of the greatest benefits of God’s Word in our lives is that it builds up hope in us.  The promises of God are a constant source of hope in any and all circumstances.  When we are afflicted God’s Word reminds us that eternal life is our ultimate destination.  If we have that perspective we will remain solid and firm in our walk with God even when evil and insolent men attack us.  Hope from God should be a constant source of comfort to us no matter how difficult life on this earth may get.  Hope is one of the most important treasures any man can obtain and it is readily available to all who will study and trust God’s precious Word.  Hopelessness runs so rampant in our world today.  It is sad to see the pain and suffering in the hearts of so many when the hope giving life of God’s Word is so easily within their grasp.  Ignorance and/or negligence of God’s Word is a recipe for hopelessness.

THE WORD OF GOD WILL INSTIGATE HEAT: The reality is that we share this planed with many wicked men who are completely ignorant of God’s Word or are diametrically opposed and rebellious to God’s Word.  When we spend time in God’s Word and are guide by God’s Word we will clearly see the stark contrast between what God requires and what these wicked men do.  This should impact our lives with righteous indignation.  We often consider anger to be a completely negative emotion; but that is not true.  When we see this world rejecting and rebelling against God anger should be the result for those who know and love God’s Word.  This anger should not lead to violence or hatred; rather it should cause us to dedicate ourselves more fully to shinning the light of the Gospel in dark places and blessing the Lord our God for His gracious blessings in our lives.  It is only by His grace that we are not the objects of His wrath and sources of indignation for all who love and fear the Lord.
