Proverbs 8:1-36

This Proverb is written from the perspective of wisdom, as if wisdom were a person.  Wisdom presents himself and describes himself to us that we might be able to recognize him and value him as we move forward into life.  Wisdom ought to be our closest friend and constant companion.  Here are a few things that we learn about wisdom.

WISDOM IS AVAILABLE: Wisdom is never hidden or unavailable.  He is out on the streets and at the gates of the city.  He presents himself with a clear voice that should be unmistakable when we hear him.  Wise men are and God Himself is anxious to reveal Himself to us.  We must take advantage of this fact and love the wisdom that is available to us.  Sin lurks in corners and dark rooms and thrives in secrecy.  Wisdom has nothing about which to be ashamed and stands out in the open for all to see.

WISDOM IS VALUABLE: Wisdom is a far greater treasure than wealth, status, power or position.  Wisdom is what qualifies a king to rule and a prince to prepare to rule.  Wisdom may make one wealthy, but the wisdom itself is the true treasure.  There is great value in knowing the right thing to do, when and how to do it.  There is great value in knowing the right words to say and when to say them.  Wisdom should be of great worth to us and we must seek for her with all of our hearts

WISDOM IS ETERNAL: Wisdom finds its source in God Himself.  Wisdom was born in God long before any of the earth was created and Wisdom will continue to flourish long after the elements of this sin cursed creation have been melted by fervent heat.  Wisdom has always been and always will be.  The foolish think that they are the source of wisdom and believe that they can live life according to their own understanding.  The wise recognize that wisdom comes from God so they seek to live their lives in order to please Him.
