Job 37:1-24

Elihu concludes his speech with a beautiful description of the greatness and majesty of God.  Job has been longing for God to hear him and respond to him.  Job has been pleading for and audience with God or for the peace of death.  Elihu makes it very clear that man is in no position to argue with God or make demands of Him.  God does not owe man explanations for the paths that He allows us to walk.  We must learn to stand in awe of Him instead of standing in judgment of His decisions.  He is the judge and is always righteous no matter what we think we understand.  It is our job to fear and worship Him without questioning His ways.

GOD HAS CONTROL OVER EVENTS IN THE WORLD:  The majesty and the glory of God can clearly be seen through the world that He has created.  The thunder is like his voice.  The lightning reveals His power.  The seasons in all of their variety and the consistency of their cycle reveal the sovereignty of God.  All of the events of nature are under His guidance and control and are intended to reveal the greatness of His person.  In light of this amazing creativity, power and control; God expects us to worship Him.  As we observe His greatness we should be readily aware of our own smallness and then fall on our faces before Him.

GOD HATES CONCEIT IN THE HEART OF MAN: It is not our position to question God or doubt His character when we have a hard time understanding or explaining what He is doing.  As we contemplate His greatness we should be motivated to humble ourselves before Him without questioning His decisions and methods.  Conceit in the heart of man causes God to turn from man and no longer regard them because of their pride.  We must learn to live in the fear of the Lord instead of demanding explanations or justifications from Him when we are unable to understand His dealings with us.  We are all tempted to place ourselves in the place of God or on the same level with Him.  We must learn to avoid this temptation so that we will please Him because of our faith in Him and our fear of Him.
