Song of Solomon 3:1-11

Love is wonderfully awful thing.  It produces exuberant joy and at the same time it produces excruciating pain. It makes us feel like with cannot survive without the object of our love.  God has made us with these desires and feelings and they are an important part of our lives and relationships.  There is a time and a place for everything including love.  Love can be mistaken for passion and lead us to a point of doing the wrong thing at the wrong time.  It is important that we learn to distinguish between that which is truly love and that which is merely lustful passion.  They are sometimes hard to distinguish.

THERE GOES THE BRIDE: The bride woke up and the groom was not beside her in bed.  He heart grew sick as she missed her lover and could not rest until she found him and was reunited with him.  She leaves the comfort of her room and home and took to the streets in search of her love.  The watchmen were there to keep her safe but were unable to help her find him.  Suddenly she finds him and embraces him and refused to let him go again.  She brings him back home and their love is rekindled and complete.  The big question is what was the groom doing in the streets in the middle of the night?  It seems that they must have had and argument and he walked away to cool off and she went to bed to cry herself to sleep.  When she woke up, the argument was forgotten and the ache of love swept over her like the tide in a swelling sea.  There may be argument or disagreement in marriage but we must be committed to working them out.

HERE COMES THE GROOM: The groom is described in all of his splendor dressed in all of his royal robes and presented with all the pomp of a king.  We are not accustomed to the groom receiving such attention but in this culture the splendor of the groom was considered to be the priority to the society.  This is why the image of Christ being a groom and the church being the bride makes so much sense.  There will be a day when we see Christ return for His bride in all of his glory.  In marriage there must be a mutual admiration of one another.  Men should admire their wives and wives should admire their husbands.  This admiration and deep desire to be together is one of the greatest blessings of marriage.
